About Steven

Steven, an experienced silversmith began his career selling handcrafted silver bangles in the craft markets of Covent Garden, London, where his work was known for its highly polished finish and heavily adorned with the prestigious hallmarks of the London Assay Office.

Over time, Stevens artistic style evolved, moving away from the sleek and polished to embrace a more organic, earthy aesthetic. This shift has led to the development of eco-friendly practices and materials, using all reclaimed and recycled silver, reflecting a growing consciousness of the environment.

From the workbench in his studio, overlooking the rolling countryside in Kent, Steven draws inspiration from the world around him. His current pieces incorporate textures that mimic natural elements, embracing a more raw and earthy aesthetic.

His work, while still rooted in traditional silver smithing techniques, has taken on both new practice and experimental form.

“ I heat reclaimed silver until it becomes molten. It’s then a tortuous process of manipulation by pushing and dragging this free flowing metal to form a length of silver that will become a piece of art jewellery.

When I remove the heat from the free flowing silver it quickly sets into its lava like shape, and although similar, no two pieces are ever the same.

Each piece is bespoke, original and completely unique.”
